I took this pic when I visited the DMZ in South Korea. There were these odd wicker people coming out of the hillside. I don't expect it to do too well in a free study but I wanted to enter something. My trip to the DMZ definately opened my eyes to how close we actully are from going to war with North Korea. You could almost cut the tension in the air with a knife...

Post Challenge: WOW a personal best. At first I didn't think it was going to do anything. Thank you all for all the great comments.

Adam very nice photo! I really like the feeling I get while studying it. It feels like spiritual being rising from the ground and walking off into the horizon, but to where? The one comment I can make is I get the feeling it is cropped to tight. I alos get the feeling therre is something else lacking but I can not put my finger on it right now. Great work!

Very moving. I think you did a very fine job respecting what I imagine to be the mood of this installation.

Greetings from the Critique Club

What a weirdly interesting image you have presented here. I had to go look up the wicker statues that (apparently) represent South Koreans facing the north yearning for reunification. Haunting, indeed.

As far as technicals go, there's not much to say. Sure that line is mildly distracting, but it could also be part of the installation and be there for a reason. We just don't know. The Bald Sky was not in your favor, but sure, go back at a different time and hope for a nice blue one. Sure. Sometimes we take what we can get and say "thank you!"

So, thank you for entering this thought-provoking image which did indeed, receive a nice score. Congratulations on your new personal best. May you keep adding new ones rapidly.

Wow! Really cool photo! Clever idea. I do think that the white line going across is quite distracting, though. It would have been much stronger if you could have cloned it out or darkened it somehow so that it wasn't so obvious. -7- (8 or possibly 9 without the line)

This is different. :-) I like the natural brown colors, but can't help wondering what this would look like in a B&W treatment. Personally I think it would be a much stronger presentation in B&W. Also, the line going thru the middle? I'm pretty sure that could be cloned out without any worries on breaking the rules for an advanced challenge. Just some thoughts. Good luck in the challenge.
