oh well....i wasnt actually using a studio..thus the blurring of the background. Natural light. Pretty generic. She reminds me of a barbie doll.

I think you DID put your finger on it quite well!

Thank you for answering my question. I was hoping you wouldn't take it to wrong way. I just wanted to get inside your mind a little.

I think the one thing that strikes me odd about the picture is her smile... it seems that she is faking it.

I was really shocked to see that this was one of your photos. You seem to have a darker side about your photography... which I really like. Are you disappointed that this did so well because it is kind of opposite of what you seem to like to shoot or what people expect from you here on DPC? Just curious....

Lighting: perfect, although it appears a bit overprocessed to the point of her skin looking at bit plastic.
Pose: is not quite as expressive as I would have liked, particularly the stare, but it works well. Also, since this is under the advanced editing rules, the tan line should have been burned to match the rest of her skin.
Background: works well, but I wish it was not tilted.

A very lovely bride I must say! Something about this shot doesn't look right though. She looks a little plastic, almost like a manequine. Did you use Neat Image on this? The detail in the veil is also just not there...

From the angle of her head I get the impression that there might have been just a LITTLE too much picture-taking going on :)

Good exposure; I like the effect of the veil blending into the background.
07/04/2004 09:34:23 AM
OK photo but the model has a weird blank look on her face. She should be smiling.
07/03/2004 09:21:40 PM
This is a good example of how to do a portrait. Nice soft lighting and the model seems fairly relaxed. Good job.
07/03/2004 09:50:57 AM
Lighting and color are really excellent! I love the high-key tonality. Your model's neutral expression and almost vacant gaze makes her to look like a Barbie doll.
07/02/2004 12:29:21 PM
It looks like a Barbie doll, you should show at least one hand here to make it more lt less frozen.8
07/01/2004 07:22:03 PM
Striking....absolutely beautiful. Good job.
07/01/2004 04:31:15 PM
Almost a doll like quality to the bride -
07/01/2004 01:48:05 PM
Excellent. Looks like a doll. 10
07/01/2004 12:36:44 PM
Nice job on the eyes, they are striking.
07/01/2004 11:31:14 AM
I must say, the groom is a lucky man! Great shot!
07/01/2004 11:05:59 AM
seems very heavily processed or she is wearing a lot of make-up - looks quite unnatural
06/30/2004 05:36:08 PM
Amazing eyes. Good job of not over-exposing the white dress.
06/30/2004 12:21:19 PM
Beautiful...lips seem a little tense.
06/29/2004 11:50:39 PM
fab shot i love the soft focus around the edges and the way you focus attention on the eyes
one of my ribbon winners

The doll-like appearance is quite unnerving. Technically this is a superb photo, but the featureless skin and staring eyes just freak me out.
06/29/2004 11:03:00 PM
A stunning bride at that. Beautiful eyes and the perfect gown to match. The upper right dark areashould not be there. The "flowy" feel of the veil is great.
06/29/2004 10:51:37 PM
Great Bridal Portrait!! Good work - 9
06/29/2004 09:12:43 PM
How stunning! This bride is simply beautiful; lighting and softness are perfect. I do have one tiny nitpick...the gown appears to not fit very well, making her a bit "boxy" in appearance in the torso...like the gown is too big. Still, a beautiful portrait. :o)
06/29/2004 07:42:37 PM
Beautiful bride, beautiful shot!
06/29/2004 05:34:19 PM
Wow good composition. Seems like there's a blue overcast though.
06/29/2004 03:47:25 PM
Great 10
06/29/2004 03:23:08 PM
nice photo.....I like the soft edges too......a 10 from me
06/29/2004 01:02:22 PM
I think this shot could have been in the "Stepford Wives" movie, she looks like a doll. I would like to learn how to get the same results. 9
06/29/2004 11:43:23 AM
Stunning! Any bride would be overjoyed to have a picture like this in their album. It has a nice softness to it. The lighting is nice and th facial features really pop. Well done, one of my top choices. :-)
06/29/2004 01:15:08 AM
The upper left corner is kinda distracting as it leaves me wondering what it is.
Otherwise, a great photo.
06/28/2004 10:48:44 PM
Perfect! 10
06/28/2004 09:57:33 PM
Its a wonderful work of art! 10
06/28/2004 08:22:06 PM
wow..ok...you win :)
06/28/2004 05:18:05 PM
Lovely soft bridal shot. You have really managed to capture the bride's stunning eyes well.
06/28/2004 04:27:06 PM
OK, I had to look twice to make sure this wasn't a doll. Don't get me wrong, I love the composition, colors, contrasts... it's the sign of a great photographer. It's the eyes.... they look plastic to me. did you "whiten" them? I'm aware that this is current practice in many studio shots but IMHO they just seem overwhite. Beautiful shot nonetheless 8

Nice shot. Beautiful eyes and skin. I think the lighting is good also. A full smile might have been better though, and I'm not sure about the angle. Maybe it's just me, and if I am the only one that says anything, please just disregard it.

The background on the left is a little strange ... I keep staring at it. Very pretty eyes and her hair color jumps right out ... nice.

the eyes are amazing! the dress takes a bit too much attention away from her face. I think I would have cropped a bit higher. 7

Very good! Just one small negative-- the upper tilt of her body off to the left looks a little funny. Your lighting is perfect. Great job. 9 from me.

Skin looks unnatural, she looks like barbie, i mean she REALY looks like barbie.
I like the shot, but the plastic skin will cost you points. 7

With that fixed stare she looks a bit like a Stepford wife. Very plastic looking. The lighting is nice. The two-toned background is a little odd.

I like the soft focus around the veil and how vivid the color of the eyes are.
