after a comment i found particularly unkind i felt a need to respond ..
i think it’s a shame when ppl judge insect photographs harshly because they might have seen a few before .. i wonder if those same ppl are as unforgiving when it comes to landscapes, seascapes, portraits, misc macros, droplets, sunrises, sunsets, night shots, zoo shots, animals, birds flying, etc etc .. the list goes on ..
we see some amazing photographs here in dpc and also some incredibly imaginative approaches to the challenges .. but we do see a lot of the abovementioned subjects over and over .. when i vote i try & judge the photograph on its merits alone and how it stacks up to the other photographs in the challenge .. the fact that i may have seen many on the same subject is irrelevant .. each photograph is unique ..
photographing insects isn’t easy especially in their natural environment where they can fly away and you have no control over them at all .. when i get a photograph i’m happy with and enter it in a challenge its hurtful to read that its just another bug shot ..
i feel its important to approach commenting in a friendly and supportive way .. maybe we should all consider carefully how we make those comments and how they will affect the ppl receiving them ..

Agree to every word u've written. It's so easy to shoot an unusual and rare subject the real talent lies in shooting the most common objects is such visually charming ways. I remember a very famous product photographer saying 'It's doesn't require much talent to shoot a hot women in few clothes, show me a picture of a bicycle pedal or a gearbox that can hold the eye for more than a second'

You pictures are a visual treat, keep rocking!

Used your insect hypnotizer filter? You're da Bomb with your micro macro's. @ f6.3 you had to be positioned perfectly to get the focus and DOF to work for this.

Roz, you are the Mistress of 'sects.

Don't let those casual throw away comments change you.

I cannot begin to consider having the patience and talent it takes for you to produce these masterful images.

And whilst insects are something I have little feelings about - you make me INTERESTED in them.

Keep 'em coming - you ROCK!
