Greetings from the Critique Club
Hello Ja-9! You had a fine opportunity to get close to one of these beautiful creatures. They are so light and delicate, you wouldn't know they have the swiftness and ability to hunt that they are known for.
Lovely proportions on this guy, but as your comments say, post-processing was your downfall on this one. Definition of his beautiful face feathers was lost and the speckles on his crown and breast became indistinct.
Still, because the bird and the pose were so dramatic, you received a good score for this interesting image.
Best regards,
Alice |

I think you worked WAY too hard in post trying to recover something that probably should have been reconsidered. Subject is fine, but it's very oversharpened and blurry. |

good overall, but the feathers in the bottom left look blurry and distracting, almost make me dizzy ... the head is nice and sharp |

Janine, I really like this, esp. the expression / stare. I hope it's doing ok for you and I do think it was the better choice, as nice as the swan was. BTW, not voting on this image. |

Congrats on the spot on exposure. It's tricky with the white feathers. You kept the little subtle details. The composition works too. It's a good shot but only wish it did not have the jagged sharpening effects. Looks as if there was some slight motion blur and you tried to compensate by oversharpening. This might look better in print though :) |
