What really wows me here is the incredible light on the smoke trail. Fantastic shot, David!

Nice image - but I think it would work much better in full color.

I'm revisiting this one and am upping my score. It is very nicely done. I like the choice of coloring and the composition is great. It would be nice to see the plane a bit larger/closer so that it stands out a bit more. Otherwise, great shot! 8

Do we have a winner? This photo is classic - talk about leading lines - the smoke trail goes up and back down and straight at us - rule of thirds - contast of textures: smoke, sky, plane - soft background, sharp object - sepia tone to match the era that the plane is from. Yep, it's just perfect in every way- 10 of course.

Perfect choice of tone for this image. This is without fail one of my top 10 for this challenge. Great crop, great subject, and I'm green with envy that I didn't get a shot this great for JFS. This is what a powerful image is all about. 10

you really captured the "swoop" and your use of B&W was a good one. One of my favorites this challenge

Excellent subject matter for the free study. I love how the smoke trains the eye to follow towards the plane. Negative space is perfect and so is the cropping. Smart choice going with b/w, as well. 10

Great use of that vapour trail to create a strong composition - that curve is just great. And black and white is perfect for the content. Excellent.

Superb composition and works surprisingly well in the muted tones you have used. I will definitely be taking this as a favourite.

I really like the composition in this. The swirl of the smoke leads the eye down the image to the plane. It works very well and the clear focus on the plane completes the story. Good one.

very cool! it seems these shots always look better with something else in the shot (like the ground, or something else in the air), but this is fairly effective.
