I was playing around with my wireless flash unit and a balloon, when I came up with this relatively interesting shot. The wireless flash transmitter has a max sync speed of 1/250. When I set my camera to a faster shutter, I got a partially lit effect (mostly lit at 1/320, basically unlit at 1/1000).

You can see some reflection off the top of the balloon (in this, the right) from the speed light which had a diffuser on it, because the flash was actually behind and under the balloon, pointing up at a slight angle. The little dots you see are actually spit from blowing up the balloon!

This reminded me of a lunar eclipse (really more of a waning/waxing gibbous, but it sounds cooler as a eclipse), so I did the best I could to make that happen in post processing (completely in Canon Photo Professional):
* Rotated and cropped
* Upped brightness a bit
* Slight white balance adjustment before converting to Monochrome
* Increase sharpness and apply Sepia
* Turned down saturation slightly
* Increased the red via the RGB curves
