This is a fantastic shot, the depth draws me into the scene, wanting more. The relationship between the wood in the foreground and background leave me wondering if they were at some point in time attatched to one another. The B&W conversion here is beautiful, rich range of tones. I do have to agree with Bear Music that the inline boarder hurts the overall impact, however not much.

Excellent image. Very nice B/W conversion. But I bet you'd have gained a tenth of a point overall if you had not used the heavy, inline border. It's particularly distracting on lower right, where it intersects your main subject. Congrats on top 10!

this is sharp shot as well. Nice detail in the front wood

The detail in the front subject is wonderful - and seriously, I think the border works here.

Very striking image. I like it a lot. One nit-pick (not deducting any points) is what appears to be sharpening halos on the shadow side of the main subject. But sometimes that sort of halo is naturally present in a high contrast shot. FYI, there is a good tutorial on DPC on removing sharpening halos that is legal in advance editing. 8 :)

great details on the driftwood in the foreground - i personally would have closed down that aperture and let the whole scene be in focus

Beautiful. Nice composition and shallow DOF - it works well here.

striking - and I think the border adds to the illusion of depth

There's something to be said about wood converted to black and white that it aesthetically pleasing.

I'm not really a fan of the border to be honest as it draws to much attention away from your image. I'd also like to see either more depth of field or less. The drift wood in the background isn't quite out of focus enough.

Brilliant image. A scene that fits B&W perfectly. The black stripe I could live without.

really lovely capture with nice detail in the wood. I would have has a bit larger DOF to get the next one back in focus as well and timed it so that the tip of the wash was in shot.

Very pretty and even the border works extremely well with this!
