This image leaves your audience at a total loss. We look and look and seek even the most subtle hints, but all to no avail.

I am completely missing the double-exposure effect here. As far as the photo goes, it seems to have been taken in fairly bright light . The shadow that cuts across the right hand prong of the anchor is distracting, and the smaller green anchor gets rather lost against the green background of the deck surface.
