Challenge: Double Exposure (Basic Editing)
Camera: Canon EOS-5D Mark II
Lens: Canon EF 28mm f/2.8 USM
Date: Apr 27, 2010
Date Uploaded: Apr 27, 2010

Obviously inspired by Labuda's Bodhisattva. I didn't want to do the exact same thing so I went with the balloon which I already had as a left over from my dismal performing balloon entry. If this wasn't basic editing and there wasn't such a stink made about what constitutes a double exposure I would have done more with this but what can you do?

Anyway, the double exposure was setup by shooting in a dark room. Using a remote shutter and the camera set to bulb mode I fired the flash twice. Once to capture the eye and the second to capture the hand and balloon. Took a few takes to get it to line up ok. Personally I like the creases, which was the result of the black card I used, but I think it hurt my score so I probably should have entered a version using a different card.

One light setup:

I like the creases. In fact, I like everything about this. I gave it a 9.

Remove the creases and you have a work of art. Congratulations on your top ten placement. The image's composition is very impressive.

What are the crease marks? an (illegal) added effect, or is the hand holding the balloon a picture?

Thanks for your comment but it would be the third option, i.e. legal effect done in-camera, no artwork/photo used.
