essay, part 3:

But photography is as transformative as any artform, and as unreliable. The machine is not objective, not true, suggesting to me that objectivity simply isn’t out there, and that truth comes from us. Anyone who takes photographs knows that they lie, finding a mood that was about to come into existence but never did, easily calibrated to bring out an overwhelming darkness that was never there. So where does the transformation, the lie, occur? Inside the machine?

Frightening - I am afraid you know exactly what you are doing. So full of allusion. Deer. Pamplona. Cattle. Trains. Deportees. And you weren't thinking that at all. Very disturbing.

Oh my! I didn't get the chance to vote this challenge (I was in Las Vegas, don't you know, waiting for 4 women in their 70s to decide which buffet and when...) But this is breathtaking, literally. A true gem indeed.

this is amazing. I like it when a more "artsy" picture is allowed to have a chance, sometimes the subject/theme pictures are a bit too posey and contrived for me. this one gave me shudders, like a dark dream. 10

There is something so dark and foreboding about this image. Well done.

DPC = Crisp clean and no motion blur. This to me however is an image I have seen many times in the Outback during shearing time. Old dark buildings and constant movement. Well shot.
