 Queen Alexandra’s birdwing (Ornithoptera alexandrae), male. Butterfly Pavillion, Westminster, CO.

From about 15 feet distance, which is just beyond the minimum focusing distance of my Canon EF 400mm f/5.6L USM lens. Tripod mount due to low light conditions. Remote shutter release cable to reduce vibrations. The separation behind the butterfly to the nearest background was about 25 feet, which is mostly why the bokeh is smooth. Back there wasa jade-like tree, a brown wall. other butterflies and flower blossoms.
