Pinch me. I must be dreaming. With so many terrific entries, I was just hoping to see page one, maybe an HM if REALLY fortunate.

Thanks to all of you for the wonderful comments.

Perhaps I should shoot all of my entries out of the kitchen window!

With DPL playoffs starting, I guess it's a good time to be "hot."

About the photo: Did not set out to capture this, but did so why trying for more photos for the "Peanut" challenge. This was shot during intense morning sun. Bird was hovering around a bright red feeder, adding somewhat to the color cast on the underside of his body (which I decided not to eliminate). I also had the benefit of the feeder being close to the house. The sun shining off the siding provided a great reflector to nicely illuminate the front of this little fellow. Normally I would shoot this at very high shutter, but had it much lower for shooting chipmunks further away on my deck. As a result, I got the angelic-looking motion effect on the wings, which I perceive as a huge bonus. I'm sure learning a lot about photography by accident!

WTG Stan. Quick calculations show that you only got 2 of the 4 blues on the front page, which is pretty close to 50%, so you may want to try a little harder next time.
8-)

Congrats.

I think this is the best hummingbird shot I've ever seen -- and I've seen a lot. But hey, two blue ribbons in a row? You've got to be stopped. ;) Congratulations.

Couldn't you stop the wing movement better? HaHaHa. Just kidding. This is great. Better than the common hummer shot...the pose, the highlights on the head and back, the background all combine beautifully. Good stuff.

WOAH!!!!! I think this is a wonderful shot. The vivid red of the border is a distraction for me. I'd desaturate it about 40% or not have it at all. That bird's colors are just gorgeous. :) 8
