I wasn't planning on entering this challenge but was in town with my husband the day after the challenge was announced and had my camera with me.
We'd just received the sad news that Sabine, the wife of my husbands cousin, had died (very tragically, I may add).
We went into the small church on the main shopping street because I wanted to light candles for my Mum (who died nearly four years ago) and Sabine.
The church was empty and very quiet (although the street outside was bursting with people).
I lit the candles and was on my way back up the aisle when I noticed my husband kneeling in prayer (he was very sad that day, in fact we both were). The light was so perfect from the stained glass window so I took a couple of shots just to capture the moment.
When I checked the photos at home I thought I'd take the chance and enter the challenge. I'm really thrilled that it got a 6+ score (6.2 as I'm writing), the comments were also very much appreciated.
My husband kept asking me during voting how "he" was doing and I was happy to tell him he was doing just fine ;-)

This photo does capture the essence of "church". I didn't vote, but would have given this a very high mark. It has that "something" about it, and part of that is the sincerity. I will be very surprised if this does not get a Posthumous Award.
My condolences about your relative, Sabine.

This is fantastic, and goes beyond a mere photograph. For me, it captures the emotion, the experience, the relationship with God. You've truly captured a moment that speaks to the human soul.
