Brown Creeper approaches nest entry behind bark of Ponderosa Pine.

Yeah, I don't care. This image will be panned. It won't relate to the city people. But, this image represents what I do and how I do it. The image would have passed basic rules. This is nature photography of birds of my mountain region. That's me. It's as close to a "self-portrait w/o people" as you'll ever get from me. If some people don't comprehend, then that's okay.

Well, I received one comment about the bird being too camouflaged against the tree bark. That person missed the entire point of the photograph. Or, I didn't anticipate people would not be able to see the subtle variations. Or, some people have poorly calibrated monitors!

Subtle camouflage...That's the way nature is. Animals have evolved survival tactics. Camouflage is one. My purpose in nature photography is to observe, study and photograph phenomenon like this. This image is not scoring well. I find this photograph to be very satisfying to me.

The bird doesn't stand out against the color and texture of the trunk. It is hidden and camoflaged. IMO there should at least be some separation due to a shadow cast or something.

Wow, the bird really blends in nicely with the tree but, stands out enough to see it.
