Averages are just that, averages. Like yourself, I also gauge the success of an entry on many more factors than the average vote received.

Thanks for all the positive comments on this picture for those who tried to understand what order I saw in the image. Obviously a lot of people cried shoehorn on this one and killed the score. The image ended up with more 10 votes and was favorited more then the winner so I am taking some consolation that this image was the best for this challenge in some people eyes which was a first for me since I've joined dp.

It is a shame - this is a spectacular photo but I have to give it a "1" because it has nothing to do with the challenge.

Nice point of view. Great timing on capturing the plane.

This is a lovely architecture with a lot of scope for great images. You have made the best use of it here. I had visited this arch in St.Louis a couple of years back, when I was living in the mid-west area.

Looks like a C-130 Hercules. Very nice. Reminds me of One of my own entries. I'll be expecting to see this one at or near the top of the challenge.

Wonderful capture. The sky almost looks fake. Very interesting perspective, and nicely processed. Maybe just a tad too much contrast.
