 I like to take walks on the beach in the early morning. The Gulls like it as well, especially if the tide is going out. These Clams become visible just below the sand as the water rushes out. The Gulls will grab a Clam and fly over the beach near the water's edge and drop it from about 30 feet onto the hard packed sand. This cracks the shell and allows access to the animal inside. This particular gull is a Herring Gull. It's plumage looks fairly soft due to the fact that it was just under the water seconds before this shot while catching breakfast.

Fantastic! I got a shot this month of some kind of gull with a squid in its mouth, but it was probably 30 feet up. It made for a shot I like, but its relatively small size in the original meant I couldn't crop it nearly as much as this to make it as large in the frame. Congrats on the shot, score, and rank!
