Challenge: Baby Animals (Advanced Editing VII*)
Camera: Canon PowerShot S5 IS
Location: Madison, WI
Date: Aug 2, 2010
Aperture: 4
ISO: 100
Shutter: 1/1000
Galleries: Snapshot, Animals
Date Uploaded: Aug 2, 2010

This is from the first day we brought Nala home. She had so much excitement from running around and playing with other dogs that she zonked out on the deck. At this time, she was about 10 weeks old.

This is back in the days of my S5IS, where I didn't have RAW files to edit, so the editing on this isn't the greatest. Also, the background is pretty distracting (although I tuned that down in post a bit), so I'm guessing this won't score the best, but I think it's adorable! (Taken 3/15/2009)

Post processing (Aperture):
* Crop
* Increase Exposure
* Increase Recovery
* Decrease black point
* Increase Brightness
* Increase Definition
* Increase Saturation
* Increase highlights (with higher tonal range)
* Increase Shadows
* Adjust Levels
* Sharpen
* Blur the background very slightly
* Desaturate the background partially
* Burn some bright spots
* Vignetting added
* Export/resize
* Unsharp mask, slight levels, and export for Web (Pixelmator)

-----

Cool! I just noticed that this photo is #9 on the highest scoring photos list for the Canon S5 IS.

I like the way the subject fills the frame. IMHO It would have been even better if the houses in the background were less visible.

Sweet. The top crop is just a tad too tight for me.
