 Taken last November with a hired 500mm f/4 ... awesome bit of kit :) I had the camera on my tripod and manfrotto mount, the tripods legs go out flat so the camera was just higher than the beach.

At Donna Nook you can go down to the beach where the seals are, not too many people know as there is a walkway along the top of the beach where the "Nursery" is. Great experience and as long as you didn't get too close they didn't really mind.

There was just a sudden storm on the beach (had been overcast all day) which is why this little guy is fairly soaked!!

Wohoo, a ribbon :) Thanks for all the votes and comments ... I kept coming back to recheck the rules to make sure you could enter an old photo!! And top score for the lens ... if only I had a spare 6 grand I'd buy one!!

This is so pathetic. Hard to tell what sort of animal this is at first. But the image is wonderful. Very soft pastel colors, and great detail on the fur. Nicely cropped, and the eye level is perfect.
