Found a large volleyball-sized "tennis" ball at Wal Mart recently and just bought it on impulse - too good a prop to pass up. This is pretty much exactly the shot I envisioned for it, but it has just sat around for weeks cause I really wanted a female tennis player in the shot. When the "yellow" challenge came up I knew I had to use it, even if it had to be a self portrait, which is is. Hung ball from fishing line off lightstand boom, hit self time and ran around net to "hit" the shot. Used longest zoom lens to compress elements and shot it wide open to cut DOF, so shutter speed ended up being really fast. Post: obviously, cloned out fishing line and connector, then some exposure tweaks and sharpening.

I call staged on this. That looks like a larger-than-life-size tennis ball. Great picture though

Good idea. Would have been even better if you could have created a blur type spinning motion and speed effect on the ball. Now the ball just looks too stationary.

Hey, this look just like the tennis ball my dog found the other day... coincident? Great image.

Great shot, I imagine you had the ball hanging from a thread otherwise not a very happy photographer after a broken lens or nose. 8

nice set up... I am wondering what it would have looked like with a bit of movement (longer exposure)
