The Iwo Jima Flag raising memorial aboard MCRD Parris Island SC. Photo taken as a Platoon of Marine recruits march by.
Little known facts, this was actually the second flag raised on Mount Suribachi. The 6 men raising the flag were 5 Marines and 1 Navy Corpsman.

Good color, but we are looking at this from behind. Perhaps it wasn't possible to get that view that day. Also, the corps in the background is a bit distracting & draws my eye away from the subject. I would have left out as much of the foreground as possible, and tried either early in the a.m. or late p.m. for softer light.

The photograph is very busy. The subject is not isolated enough in the photo, the viewer's eye wonders around the photo.

Nicely photographed. One of my favorite monuments as I mentioned in the pre-challenge thread for Memorials and monuments.

Nice monument........great colours, great day to be out there photographing.
But, why did you photograph this side of the monument........a stronger image could have been from a different angle, getting the faces if possible.......Also wondering why you did not wait until the marches had moved away. They don't seem to be adding anything, cause they are too small, so just form a distraction. The crop is very tight at the top near the flag as well.
