A statue of Rodrigo Díaz de Bivar - a national hero of Spain during 11th century. Why this statue at USS SanFrancisco Memorial in Lincoln Park, San Francisco? No idea.

Woot! My best finish in a challenge yet! Am on cloud 9 - was so happy when I got an email asking for verification :P Thanks all - loved the coments. I agree - the border was too polarizing - some loved it and some hated it. I'm new at borders and am in a phase where I'm trying to add borders to every photo and am experimenting with different borders. I hope it'll settle down soon and I can hopefully figure out when/if a border is needed and what kind. Thanks again.

Phew! Best possible outcome of the scenario :) Many thanks to Langdon and Site Council for pursuing this and fixing a niggle at their end.

Two Sony A700's in the Top 5 for this challenge - and both have a soldier/hero riding a horse. Just thought that was fun. Congrats on your new PB!

Well done on a top finish! I'm not surprised to see this do so well. I am surprised how many comments you got on the border though. I wonder if that's a record?

Wow, this one is ribbon worthy although I don't care for the heavy inner border, think it would stand on high by itself. The square crop really works. Love how you shot towards the sky. As a horse photographer, you really picked a great angle.

I don't think that the border line adds anything to the image. If anything I would use it as a crop boundary to lose the bottom right corner.

I like this. Good choice on the close crop and the B&W. Those things help to bring out the details. Most of the time I don't mind a border, but in this case I feel like it's actually detracting from the image.

Not sure what others will think of it, but I really like the border you used

very nicely done - and your boarder adds just the right touch

Nice perspective, converted well to B&W with the image popping nicely and the clouds provide a good background. However, the border adds nothing but is really distracting to me. I do like this shot and it gets a 7 from me.

Nice contrast in the image. The border distracts though.
