Yes, Deb meant commenter's average. Thanks, Sara! One of my top picks as well.

I think Deb meant the average you got from commenters/voters who commented during voting..

It really is an awesome photo, and was in my top 3 of the challenge.

There's a Tiny Violin award for not quite reaching 6.0 (OK, not a real award, but a thread where you can post your picture if you want.) But also notice the average you got from voters during voting - that's HUGE. Huge, I tell you! Congrats on a great shot that really resonated with some!

the parade had just started, so I think she was still in marching band shock mode. I liked the moment.

@ paulbtlw - appreciate the kind words about the image. I was inspired to get onto 1x.com and upload the photo. unfortunately it wasn't published. maybe next time. it's a great site.

I'm glad you gave it ago. I'm surprised it didn't hit the mark. I'd have given it high marks in member screening had I come across it.

What do you think she's thinking about? I'm really liking the composition and mood.

Great! Almost looks like the child is thinking or dreaming -- or remembering this.

I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.

Positives: Wonderful framing! Lovely portrait image with bags of background interest making for a very strong story. For my money, a perfect conversion too.

Critical stuff: Nothing

Overall: I'm surprised I haven't seen it on 1x.com - I'm confident it would get published there.

A lot of emotion in this image. Such complexity and juxtaposition of worlds.
