I love Escher works. I've tried to reproduce his famous self-portrait in spherical mirror. I am aware that I could have done better but my time was limited. I expect a low score. Anyway I decided to submit this photo.

To answer some questions: I just put my hand in front of the fisheye lens after have activated the self-timer. So it seems to see the image through a reflective sphere.
Thanks for the nice votes and comments.

A very clever yet simple, and highly effective, technique.

This got my top score for imagination, technique and execution ... and it's a damn good photo. Seriously robbed IMHO!

Now that Robert (Bear Music) has pointed out Escher's original, I'm even more impressed! Pleased to see this did well in the scoring, too.

Are you kidding, this is the best Escher-like photo I've seen in years. I'm also a fan of his work and I've studied the background on your photo - that painting/wallpaper, the books, it's so much like Escher's! This should have scored higher, only 5 tens (one from me, anyhow :).

Hah! I gave this an 8, and I'm glad to be standing next to it in the rankings. I've had a long-time love affair with Escher's works...

I find this to be quite intriguing. With your hand positioned the way it is, it appears as tho you are holding a sphere. I like how your facial expression fits the mood of the scene.

I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.

Positives: Quirky, self-indulgent and quite wonderful! The tones are excellent the distorted fisheye appearance is really effective. you and your background context are full of interest - lots to explore.

Critical stuff: Nothing

Overall: A highly interesting unconventional self-portrait.

There is such a great quality to this image. I love exploring all the tiny, surprising and gratifying treats: the star-flare trio of lights, the tromp l'oeil art on the wall, all the nooks and crannies. Fun!
