 This is a single mourning dove. I was out taking pictures for the fill flash challenge, which means I was on long exposure so I could fire the flash and then move the camera to get different effects. Then this dove took off from a nearby tree. I followed him with my camera on this long exposure, creating this multiple image effect. The main reason I desaturated was to remove color noise. Applied some curves. Cropped it down to the dove. Voila.

So this was you? Wonderful shot, one of my high scores. Vaguely reminds me of this effect I captured whilst panning the gulls a long time ago:



I find that sort of thing fascinating, the discovery of *more* by the leaching out of specificity.

Ghostly, the sinking layers of light evokes a sense a escape, or clawing up, from grief, in part because of the title. Gorgeous. 10
