wonder why this snap shot didn't get DQ!!!!!!

What a totally perfect shot this is. This is outstanding, the colours the crispness, the edge, you have done well. Ignore anyone that says this is overdone. You did it a different way, it is new for you, so that in it's self makes it a winner. I wish I could do something this well. Well done mate

As one of those who have contributed to the generation of this so-called cliché - with my only blue - this a worthy winner. Maybe it has been done before but the execution is flawless and achieving it takes a great deal of time, patience and attention to detail. As for those who grumble about curvature and suchlike, this is a photography contest, not a drawing competition. If it was geometrically perfect, it would not look real!
Congratulations to rio78.

I also suck at water drops, but seen this style here A LOT, was not too impressed unless you are really new here?

I noticed the anti-water drop idiots have commented.

This is a great shot, superb execution and patience. Congrats on a well deserved blue ribbon.

Don't let the nay-sayers get to you, they suck at water drops. ;)

Likewise the middle line is slightly wobbled, i think its just the movement of the water from the splash :-)

I sincerely hope voters don't vote it down as a combination of cliches: wine glasses and drop shots.
This one is Amazingly perfect in a number of ways - showing the amount of pain staking work that went into it. A ribbon winner in my book.
I wish DPC didn't have the 300K limit on uploads - I can see some banding (especially in the blue background).

The split color in the drop adds immensely to this shot. Well captured. One of my top pics for this challenge.

Wonderfully setup, shot, exposed and processed. To get the drop perfectly aligned and split in half, well done. -1 for annoying dust spots.

Wine glass and a water drop, all you are missing is a bug to make it a triple threat :) But seriously this is such a well done shot. The lighting is excellent, timing perfect and your attention to detail to set this up just right is great. My only 10 for this challenge. I will be very surprised if this doesn't grab the blue with around a 7.5 average. Good luck.

Nicely executed, but isn't this theme a bit worn out?

EDIT: I realize my comment might have come off a bit harsh. I don't mean to detract from the picture itself, which is very well executed. It is just that I joined the site merely a few weeks ago, and from the few profiles and previous challenges I had looked through I felt I had already seen many of these shots, which was confirmed by a search for "glass".

By no means let me take away from your motivation, this is a great shot! I love the small droplets breaking up the symmetry, and the choice of colors and lighting is impeccable. There is a slight bulge in the color line seen through the water as well as the "horizon line", and there seems to be some refractions of a white edge around the colored background, but those are minor details and don't really detract that much from the picture.

So, to summarize (and of course IMVHO):
Execution: 8
Originality: 1

:)

Cleanly and elegantly presented. In my top 3. Too bad about the slight diffraction through the center of the glass and the uneven horizon line--still very strong.

My whole being hates everything about this image and what it represents... except one small part that says, "That's actually pretty well done." I hope this does well for you, but not so well that it ends up in the top 10. If it ends up in the top 3 I will probably blow a cork with rage. (Not voting)
