While I breathe, I hope...

or something like that. =P

I was ambivalent because I wanted to portray an image about hope despite the darkness/uncertainty that the present/future hold. That's why I created the "halo" around her. Not sure if I was able to portray that... but thank you all for the wonderful comments. =)

I'm not at all ambivalent about this one. I love it.

This is a very good picture, in spite of the layer(s) on it. The disconnectedness is the point, surely.

Has a 60's nostalgia feel which works, does express joy and freedom but perhaps not as a contrast to their opposites, wonderful regardless of what I don't see ;)

I kinda like it. It looks, to me, like a photo that's on the way to something good, but somehow it is missing out a bit on the storyline. I mean, the woman looks so free and unencumbered, her reflection and the water all around her support that, but then there's a straight line across the picture, above her head, and things are darker and in a different world there. That line stands out a lot more than I wish it would stand out, and I also somehow am not getting the connection between the top and the bottom part. I have to say though, any picture that makes you wonder, and think, is good.

Superb! From July 5, 1910. Just a slight error on the photograph information.

We all have a different response to this - I say she's embracing the freedom of the beach & sea. I don't think it's a ship-looks more like a jetty. Anyway-I really like this :)

I'd actually be curious about the source of your ambivalence, because this is a damn darn good picture. From the thumbnail, I thought it was going to be a diving image like the one that just ribboned in jump :-)

But the glow around here, emphasized by the vignetting at the edges, creates this bubble of fantasy (or the energy of life), which is linked to the outer world represented by the ship. It could also mean that external, material things are no match for her spiritual self. It is a very eloquent and elegant image.

Oh I love it. With what she's wearing, it looks like a bathing suit from the 20's. I like the juxtaposition between her and the ship. I rather like it myself. She's opening herself up to the possibilities. Dreaming of going off on that ship. Yep, that's my take on it.

Why ambivalent? I think this is rather awesome in fact. You have produced some wonderful work in this side challenge
