This is my daughter (a competitive Irish dancer)
I used the same idea from the design and engineering challenge but with a bit of twist. The Irish love their dance but also love their beer as well :) Hope the shot does well...I have learned alot since the design and engineering challenge.

This is a marvelous photos. The composition is outstanding and the detail is simply fantastic. It's a beautiful piece. On my first look I only saw a minor distraction that I might try to get rid of and that would be the the square under the can...not sure if that is a tiled floor but that seems to be a very slight distraction one that you could easily edit out. This does fit the challenge well. Nice way to express balance.

Congrats on the fantastic finish and I will be looking forward to seeing more from you.

tighter crop (tall vertical) might have worked better, great concept

why the square crop? wouldn;t a narrower crop emphasize the image better?

ok - i agree with you about the sides adding negative space - now what about cropping away the table, leaviing half the beer can and all negative space? maybe it is the bottom, floor or whatever, that is extra - also it has less contrast that the dancer and the can. is less dramatic.

Been is Ireland for 5 yrs now and haven't seen that yet. I love your idea. Foreground is perfect for me but I do have a few issues with the background. I think a complete washed out white background would make this image a classic. What I am trying to say is that the background is a bit distracting. I think a retake with a different background would be worthwhile. Bottom line is it's a great image and I love it.

Guinness! Yes - a balanced meal! Image needs to be more off centered but otherwise a nice attempt.

Great photo. I like your composition and subject here. The only thing I would have liked to see different is the use of color. I don't think the B&W really adds to the feel of the shot in this case. But that's just my personal taste, and its a great capture nonetheless..... I give a 9

Great idea and executed brilliantly. The Black and white works really well. The centred composition is perfect.

Great idea. Whilst the lighting seems adequate, the square crop and the harsh line between foreground and background spoil the image a little. (6)
