A tribute to our American friends. They often cop bit of criticism for their UScentric view of everything & naiveté regarding the world outside the USA, and for their appalling taste in clothes, music, Norman Rockwell, food, movies ... well, in pretty much everything, really.

And yet their good points are very good indeed. Dental hygiene. Quentin Tarantino. Edward Hopper and Jackson Pollock. Literature. And most of all, saving the ass of the rest of us at least a couple of times each century.

I'm sorry that we sometimes mock you so. You really do deserve better. And long may your banner yet wave. Thank you.

I ALMOST pinned this for an ursula. Then I wondered how you would take that :-) Gorgeous and delicate.

I came back to this a few times during voting, such an attractive use of movement.

Like a wrinkle in the spectrum. This is astounding. A nine for you.

I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.

Positives: A very nice blurry abstract - but what blur! I really like the helical pattern you have produced and the colours are perfect for this - the deep red and blue combination works really well. The whole thing makes me wonder what the underpinning subject is.

Critical stuff: Nothing really.

Overall: A really super abstract.

This is so smooth and dreamy. I have no idea what it is but that is obviously not important. The dull colours and soft white work beautifully together. Very pleasing to view. Well done!

Wonderful texture and inviting shapes. Somewhat unbalanced in my mind, but it's only the matter of taste. 9
