Camera: Canon EOS-7D
Lens: Lensbaby Composer
Location: Cabrillo Beach
Date: Nov 21, 2010
Date Uploaded: Nov 25, 2010

Two fisherman, three gulls. No hopes or expectations at all. Entering because I applaud the idea behind the challenge.

[Nov. 27th, 2010 09:19:05 PM]

Oops - typo on the title - should have been "Fishermen". That's what the two unidentified objects are on the left.

[Dec. 2nd, 2010 10:13:20 PM]

Can you tell I only had one day to shoot last week? That this looks a bit like the entries for Clouds and Vintage? And who knew that the blurry Lensbaby would outscore the other two?

This was sweet Deb. I had this pegged as the Blue. You used the Lensbaby brilliantly for this shot. You'd better put this on a canvas!

Wow, that's great spot-on focus with the LB. Great shot. (Was this using a 3.5 or 4 ring?)

Nice going, Deb. I still think I'd do much better with The Composer than I ever did with my original one which I sold.

"If you want to be happy forever," the gull said to me, "learn to fish." A fisherman by inclination if not by trade, I find myself agreeing with the gull, but the gull is not a man, for all that she's a fishing gull.

She deserves a Bronze Paw.

The idea behind the Posthumous Ribbon is to encourage you to break the rules, to find new and different ways to express yourself. To free your mind to think clearly toward the solution that is certain to come, to laugh at world and at life, not doing what others are expecting you to do, but just following and listening to what's in your heart. DPC it’s a wonderful learning place where everyone should be supported on their way to be a photographer. A special attention should be aimed to those working hard with different views and approaches to photography, those not aligned with the mainstream taste and receiving no recognition. It’s our responsibility to support these photographers creating diversity and expressing different visions. Being active at the Posthumous thread it’s the best way to do it. Being active at the Posthumous thread it’s the best way to protect your and the other’s freedom of being different. Thanks for taking the time to enter this challenge. Stay wild.

Beautifully composed and good use of selective focus. I like the subdued golden lighting and the feeling that I too am in flight.

wonderful composition with gulls reflected in the trees... or trees reflected in the gulls?

Great choice! I'm drawn to the strong side light of the main gull, staring me down, daring me to...well who knows what a gull would have me do!

I am learning SO much viewing the images in this challenge. Combining the lensbaby with b/w - this is so inspired and marvelous. The lighting is just so emotional, and the leading lines of the fence are perfect to lead us through a delightful and rewarding image. There is something to enjoy everywhere one looks.
