What a lovely set of comments! In the beginning I thought this was going nowhere.

(As to brother Pointy's correct surmise, I would never have guessed this as one of my photos, but then our mother always thought he was the smart one who would eventually drive us all to smash potatoes).

Interesting photograph. Not perhaps as ominous as the title suggests. I like the screen effect of the near branches, obscuring the background forest. Hmmm ... maybe it is portentous after all! Top three pick for me. Thank you.

I love all the delicate lines of the twigs, and the little flecks of orange from the remaining leaves. I think a tighter crop could have improved the image.
