I love EVERYTHING about this... well... except for those black spots. :)

Perfectly exposed... lovely DOF... and well... it's wonderful. (Except for those black spots. *grin* )

My original comment below still stands... this should have been blue, but I'm made up you have been promoted to a ribbon - despite it having been at the expense of a DQ. Fantastic image.

I'm very happy to see this wonderful image capturing a ribbon, in the end. One of the very best DPC portraits this year.

I'm reasonably sure that I know his home planet . . but I'm not convinced . .

Love the lighting and composition.

I'll bet he plays West Coast jazz -- in the tradition of Art Pepper, or maybe Getz or Desmond. That's just what I'm hearing. Fabulous shot.

I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.

Positives: This is a spectacular portrait - the light and the skin texture is superb. The subtle coloration supports the image beautifully, as does the highly effective vignette.

Critical stuff: Nothing at all.

Overall: Top notch, one of the best portrait images I've seen for a while.

I think the processing on his skin is OTT. It's effective for this shot, what with a superb background and the sax popping and great lighting. I'd like to see an outtake but with less Plugin magic? 7.

My pick for the blue (otherwise known as a kiss of death). Fantastic tones and details.

I love the lighting, and the grayish, narrow palette is beautiful, but the speckling on the face and head is just a bit too weird for me.
