From brown to blue on consecutive Sundays - I can't think that happens too often!

Thanks for all the great comments (especially Robert for taking the time on his essay!)

This is taken from the Radisson Falconer hotel in Copenhagen, I was on my way down to breakfast and saw this scene out of the window while waiting for the lift. I nipped back to get my little G11 and shot three frames. On another shot, taken to the left of this one, you can see the bridge to Sweden but the smoke/steam on this shot swung it for me.

To be honest though, the success of the image is more down to Nik Software's new HDR Efex Pro than anything I did.

Very well done mate, I love it.... Must have a look at the plug-in you mention... But remember, these only enhance a god photo, they don't make one. :)

This one caught my eye, my old hometown, lovely photograph, still have to say I'm happy sitting in the sun in New Zealand at the moment.

Absolutely love this shot! I was a 9 from me, and I'm not sure why it wasn't a 10. Silly me!

Bear's right -- very Mary Poppinesque. :D

Congrats on a perfect blue!

The horizon gets lost amidst the sky and village competing with each other. It's like trying to draw attention to the net during a heated tennis match.

But who really cares about challenge themes anyway. This is astounding.

I keep coming back to this one. At first I was slightly put off by the blown-out sky area; I spent time obsessing over it, basically saying to myself "Gawd, I wish s/he'd taken the time to FIX that area, this would be perfect!" And that's not all, either; I started obsessing over how much it might be improved with the addition of a slight foreground gradient, because there's a sense of flatness about the scene that seemed a little off to me.

But now it's like the scales have fallen from my eyes, and I see more of the *immediacy* of the image, the very remarkable sense it has of being here-and-now, not heavily manipulated by the photographer's sense of drama. And even that, I suspect, is an illusion, because it HAS to have been manipulated, that's obvious.

So what's the bottom line? Either intentionally, or by happy accident, you are treading a very fine line right on the cusp of the "unreal", the over-dramatic; you know, the country I travel in all the time, where nothing is exactly as it was seen. And you've managed to convince me, at a visceral level, that this one IS "as it was seen", and I love it.

That plus the fact that it's utterly Mary Poppins all over the place. It's a wonderful image, and I'm bumping you 3 points to a 10 just on the basis that your image convinced me to write this rambling essay as I wait for the Patriots to kick off in an American football game.

Hell of a shot. So many layers of tones and colors and detail. Works great on every level. Very well done.

Back to make this a favorite. Bad news is I'm not voting. But yet I am, for me, one of the best, and regardless of the others this is a stupendous image. Truly amazing.

Can't help but think it looks a bit 'over' dramatic but it's really nice IMO. Should do really well, hoepfully the fp

Amazing image. Can't fault a thing, and therefore it's a rare 10 from me. Got to be the blue. Head and shoulders above everything else in this challenge.

Very striking - and VERY cold! I like the horizon of steam, smoke and clouds in addition to that of the rooftops.

I really like the dramatic sky and think the sun adds a nice color to it. The thin layer of snow is also adding a nice, chill look to the picture.
