i drive by this silo fairly frequently and went out of my way to shoot it for the stones sake. I had no idea how extensive the vines were until I shot this saturday. my head was in the grass while pulling the trigger. not sure if my score will be helped by the subject's relevance to the challenge, in addition to the perspective. buddy asked how i've been finding stuff growing through other stuff (//www.dpchallenge.com/image.php?IMAGE_ID=921958) -- dumb luck both times.
crop, cloned out power lines, levels, contrast, bit of b/w and photo filters, burn the sky and vines, dodge vines, little vignette, noise, USM, resize, resharpen, etc. etc.

| Bumping this up from an 8 to a 9, and faving it. Just a cool looking subject. I was contacted by someone on Flickr one time regarding a shot of mine that they thought was a tree growing in a silo (It wasn't, my tree was actually behind it). Apparently trees and plants in general grow quite nicely in old silos, as they are protected from the elements when young. Here's the Flickr group if you are interested. |
