MY FIRST RIBBON and PB!
This shot was not as easy as I thought it was going to be. I had seen a rendition of this awhile back in a magazine (or online-I can't remember) and always wanted to recreate it but, just like every good husband's chores, never got around to it. Finally, this challenge came up and I thought I'd give it a shot-at the last minute of course.

I had no one else around, so I had to use my own short stubby fingers for the photo. And apparently, the further you bend your thumb towards your palm when it is tight against your ring finger, your forefinger bends too! Every shot I took, I was stretching and molding my own hand to make it look as natural as possible while trying to maintain balance and create perfect "V's" between my fingers and the bridge of the glasses. In order to get it to pop, the only things circular I wanted in the photo was my palm and the glasses.

I think it worked out well, and my hand stopped cramping a few days later and I really got it to pop with some replacement colors and contrasting. No trickery and surprisingly, no selective Desat either. I just played around this the colors abit and washed away my hand pigment while leaving the flag strong with color.

Though, I do have to agree with jmsetzler's comment. I should have used the Union Jack flag instead.
Though the Beatles influence in the US was so massive and really this is where they hit the ground running.

Anyway, thank you all so much for comments and your votes. My PB and a RIBBON!! Miracles do exist at Christmas Time!

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to everyone.

I noticed your image was reinstated. Congrats! What was the controversy?

Still... A really cool image. Very fitting to the challenge, and the man behind the music. I like the way you focused the color on the glasses to make them really pop. I also think your choice of flags is appropriate. Lennon was from Britain, but the US was the major player in the war. Nice work!

Debbie- I had actually popped out the lenses of the glasses, used them as templates to traces two seperate photos of the flag, and inserted the flag cutouts into the frame itself. Worked pretty well!

Wow, this is fantastic and says John Lennon like crazy! Kudos to you!
So the flag was photographed separately and photoshopped in?

Great image. Lennon fled England never wanting to look back. He loved NYC, our flag was most appropriate. Would have been a great LP cover. Congratulations!

I'd have given this one an 11 if you had used the Union Jack rather than the American flag in terms of this challenge. This is a fantastic photo.
