 I was inspired by some shots of Twiggy and thought that now that I had nice studio lighting and my ever-present and willing model I would give it a shot. Sofia was great as I just showed her the shots and she did the hair and makeup emulation on her own.
Also, Sofia would like everyone to know she was wearing a strapless dress, I, personally, would like to think you would already assume that about me when photogrpahing one of my own children!

So my new lighting kit makes its debut in the free study :) I had one monolight behind her facing a white backdrop and one in front of and just to her left. The softbox that comes with the kit is slightly small and not the greatest so i was very pleased with the coverage in these shots. In retrospect, I should have set the flash behind her to full power as i had to dodge a wrinkle or two in the backdrop.

I love her look and pose. You manage to make her eyes pop even more. Looks amazing.

What he said (unsure if it's ok for strangers to remark on the looks of ones daughter)

Ive seen this before and studied it trying to work out why it's great and how it isn't spot on. seeing your inspirational image I worked out my suggestion is the background could be a little to vibrant and if it were a softer grey/white it may have scored better in the challenge.

What a beautiful shot and the lighting is amazing. Your daughter has flawless skin and a beautiful face. You did an excellent job (as did she) in making her look like Twiggy ... I wish I knew my lighting system as well as you do. Of course, I don't take the time to study all the tips at strobist and other such sites. I learn so much better from watching. But getting back to you - kudos for creating this photo.

what an amazing portrait .. exceptional lighting .. !!.. i love everything about it .. ppl look so different in photographs but i'm thinking this isnt twiggy at all but sofia 2010 ... if i'm wrong then silly me .. this most definitely should end up on the first page if not ribbon .. good luck .. 9 ..:)
