This is a short alley behind a coffee shop and art gallery. The back door is the last on the left. City of Orange, hence the painted orange. I had company, a man who was quite delusional. He spent 30 minutes telling me all about the hundreds of dollars he was making every day selling old film cameras in his camera shop 45 miles away. He commutes on his bike when he doesn't have a "killer buzz going". He was quite fascinated by my "fully electronic, clearly telescoping camera holder"

Love the shot and the story. Reminds me of my sister when she gets manic,(she is bi-polar) She is always coming up with all kinds of stories about things she is inventing and selling for hundreds of dollars.:)

Loving this series, the pinhole shots give a great mood to a scene.

Killer image. I don't know where the hell my body caps are but I ordered them two weeks ago. I'm lagging. This is awesome stuff, again.

Have I mentioned it's time for you to have a show somewhere? This needs to go in it.

Loved your story. The lights above the door and wall make a nice pattern down to the Orange. That alley is cool.

Clearly telescoping? Wow. I like the picture though. Did you get a picture of the man?

It's an intriguing, moody image, and interesting story. You'd better be careful consorting with delusional men in back alleys!

The orange looks like an entrance into another dimension. You can either go there or just take a safe left to the regular place. The guy you talked to sounds like he takes the orange.

Great story and a compelling, moody image to go along with it. Wow.

I'm glad you explained that that's a painted orange. I was sure that this was the entrance to a black hole of some sort and that floating object is a planet in another System.

Nice! Kind of a timeless feel to this. I find myself wondering which century...?

A most excellent story, Ben. This feels like a set from a movie. A key scene about to transpire.

lol you were brave to be chatting with the dude. i'd be out of oxygen if I had that long of a bike commute! maybe that's why he has the killer buzz :)

I like how dark spooky and mysterious this is. Looks like some trash on the ground in the light patch in front of the circle? Very gritty.

Great pinhole pic (and great story). I love that the circles of light on the left wall mimic the orange moon at the end of the alley.

LOL on the explanation! And this is exactly what pinhole photography is for. Most excellent!

Just great! My first thought when seeing this (without reading comments or story): made around 1930. Luckily your shutter speed wasn't that long :)

so many interesting pieces to this picture and overall another wonderful shot. Surprisingly little noise for iso 3200 and 102 s.

Weird... I actually like this. Please don't tell anyone.

:)

LOL @ your "friend". Were you uneasy with him being there?

I couldn't tell it is an orange. Looked like a moon (a real one) or something... couldn't figure out what it was doing there.

Don't know anything about pin hole cameras; but, this looks very scary location. The orange really adds to the feeling.

I was wondering why you spend such a long time listening to Mr. Killer Buzz, but then I look at the details. Obviously, it was worth it, this is a "killer" pinhole pic! The orange looked like a full moon to me at first. Just lovely.

My gun was ISO 3200! Imagine how long I would have been pacing at ISO 100.

102s is a long time to spend in a dark alley. I hope you were packing a gun :)
