do I look convincing enough? :) No, I am not a sailor, but I did spend a fair amount of time at sea in my oceanographic past.

This wheel belongs to HMS Surprise, a very authentic replica of an 18th century 24-gun British frigate built in 1970 and now stationed at the Maritime Museum in San Diego.

a blue ribbon?! Hmm, never expected that, was not even sure it would make top 10 with a score like this. Ah, whatever, I'll take it! Thanks for comments and votes!

The modern glasses with the old school look of the clothes and wheel is pretty damn funny! But yeah, pretty rough challenge to blue in with a 6.4, good job

Congratulations! I'm a little tired of seeing these San Diego shots while we're having record cold temperatures in DC.

:-D Fun shot and well done! Without the sunglasses you'd look like you came straight from the set of Master and Commander. :-)
Congrats on the Blue!

Wow! Looks like something out of an old Errol Flynn movie. ca 1950's. The tones and detail in the ship's wheel are superb. I like every bit of this image...

Congratulations on a very well deserved blue, Lev.

Great wheel. I like the black and white. I think I would have preferred this shot without the person, as he takes the spotlight away from the wheel.

Originally I felt this picture was too busy for my liking. But I've come back to it time and time again and it's grown on me. It's a very "geometric" picture, with lots of lines and shapes, and while it looks busy, it's actually starting to appeal to me. If the wheel was any smaller, it would get way too lost in all this, but with such a prominent wheel, it manages to hold its own quite well! Just love the texture of the wood in the wheel and the rivets give it some added dimension of complexity to let the eye look at.

Overall, a really nice photo - top 10 for me!

this image works really well in B/W. I wish the left side of the wheel wasn't cut off, but other than that I like it. Great Exposure.
