I lucked out with the wood chips flying in this one, but I didn't love the way I looked. So I tried several more times, and I just couldn't get the chips to fly like this one. So for better or worse this has to be it.

I am self employed and make handmade wood decor for a local boutique. This is me cutting out some of the wood pieces I use for my decorations.

Congrats on the top 10! Now take your hefty winnings over to Home Depot to buy a pair of safety glasses and some gloves!

Okay, obviously people had a problem with me not wearing safety gear. For the record I do usually wear ear protection, and I know I should wear eye protection but I just hate it. I can't see what I am doing they get all fogged up, anyway. I did not want to wear them for the shot. For one thing it wasn't practical for a self portrait, running back and forth trying to start a saw was hard enough. And really it's not as dangerous as it looks, in the picture my hand is nearly a half a foot away from the blade.

I know most of you were just giving me a hard time, but I wanted to explain myself anyway.

I am very happy with my score and a top 10!

A good shot but look of danger is there ,a shot from behind will bring the true look of the shot.

Where’s your safety glasses!! Otherwise – nice sharp capture.

Dramatic, but the absence of safety glasses makes me wince (with absence of ear protection and fingers being close to the blade increasing the tension).

Never did reshoot it, huh? Looks good compared to most of the competition, let me know how you're doing. Not voting.

Once I get my cars out of the way, I'd like to delve into wood work. I have been gathering tools for it for some time, now and have completed a few projects . . . I really admire the crafty who can create with their hands - it's like magic! The look of concentration and the sawdust in the air, the motion of the blade and lumber waiting all come together nicely to tell a story. I like this picture - 7

That bright spot of the logo on her thigh is a little distracting. Nice environmental portrait though (of course she SHOULD be wearing safety gear).

watch your fingers! Nice shot. Appears kinda sepia toned on my monitor; straight gray scale might have been better

Is that your thumb tip shooting out the exhaust pipe? ;-)

Umm... nice shot, but I think she needs some eye protection, and that hand guard looks to be raised too high for comfort. Who let her operate a circular saw without proper safety precautions?
