Update 2/24/2011
Been getting a few comments regarding the color of the "water". Just wanted to clarify that what you see is neither water, nor is it merely colored for photographic effect. It is actually a very defined tissue culture media used to feed the cells being grown. Cells in pure water do not good bedfellows make! Regarding the red, it is a specific dye (phenol red) that is used as an indicator of the pH of the media, thus providing a visual readout of the viability of the cells. If the media is red, your cells are happy. However, if it turns from red to yellow, you have some very unhappy cells on your hands.

Anyway, lesson over..hopefully someone learned something interesting today :)

Good comp, colors and perspective, should be in the top. Oops, get the disinfectant, a drop escaped the pipet.

Or making plastic beads for little girl bracelets?

Overall I really like this. May have been slightly more effective if the petri plates in the back left were not truncated: either by pulling back slightly to get them in, or removing the excess plates from the top to get them in the frame. At the same time, shooting in a hood means having to work with confined space.

Do the colors pink and blue have anything to do with this experiment? Maybe a little mad science going on? This is a very clean and clear picture - nice lighting and balance. 7
