I wanted people in this image, but blurry people and textured sand just would not happen for me when the folks were still milling about. Thanks for the comments and votes.

I bet you taped some flashes to those poles and triggered them remotely! And echoing what bassbone said, it's not blurry/ghostly enough. :-p congrats on 3rd!

Thank you...California is a beautiful state! I do use Nik Silver, have been now for a couple of years. Worth a look if you haven't tried it.

Well done!

I like the rise and fall of the sand, an echo of the time-smoothed waves beyond.

Great texture and detail in the sand. Very strong foreground. Excellent close/middle/far layers. Awesome tones. Just all around great photo.

One of my two fav of the whole group! VERY cool - I think the black and white makes the shot... were the colors skewed from it being a longer exposure?

I like the inclusion of foreground material. This could have been just another standard pier shot, but the foreground helps liven it up.

Lovely B&W, i like the contrast between the ruffed up sand & the smoothness of the ocean.

Superb b&w conversion. Magical light. The scene looks almost day-like. My top pick in this challenge, based on technical excellence and composition.
