 Taken on the last day of my photo safari with melethia at the Salton Sea. Our stop at this Starbucks after dawn shoots was as much a ritual for us as the morning coffee ritual represented by this man.

Lots of comments about the crop. Yup, I tried cropping out the beams, the table on the left, etc. But it seemed that when the crop was clean, the balance and composition were off. Since it's a candid, I didn't think these elements hurt the image too much. But I've been bouncing over and under a 6 all week, so I guess they did.

Great colors and capture. Kind of reminds me of LevT's . It would be nice to be able to get rid of some of the stuff around the edges, but as you say it's a candid.

I gotta disagree with onwsk8r. This guy is typical of the crowd that buys a cup of something and then spends hours staring at his computer. I've tripped over their backpacks trying to get to the register to order.

I want to know what he's looking at. I'm left completely unsatisfied from this image; what is he looking at? Why is he there? He is NOT a typical sbux customer. Looks like he's headed to the moon after he finishes checking his GMail. I can't even be bothered by the imperfections in this image - the deal on the bottom left, the fact that everything in the image (excepting the subject) is arranged just perfectly, etc - because the subject is that fascinating. Amazing capture - twice in a lifetime.

This looks like a Starbucks ad. My only nit would be the bur in the lower left. Oh, and straighten the "horizon" a smidge. It's slightly tilted to the right. :)
