And yes, I know what the "angle of repose" is, geologically, and that's a metaphor that seems to be working with this image, in my quirky mind :-)

you know Robert, i passed over this far too quickly during my voting. Gave it a 6 but coming back to it now i see i should have spent more time on it. really like it far more. Should have bumped it. Lovely image.

Thought so. I couldn't help thinking of Wallace Stegner. (Hey, that posthumous).

Oops, forgot to say I loved the composition and light.

Like bicycle racks for boats! Love this image. Not voting 'cause I know whose it is.

Based on the proficient use of SEP2 and the heavy grain, I'm guessing this is a Bear_Music image?

Love the moody contrast and heavy clouds! Not quite sold on the grain though.

This looks familiar to me, maybe not. Nice work.

a lower ISO could help reduce noise

I'd brighten things up a little and pull back on the grain.

Seriously, like a vintage shot. I like the deep tones and the clouds. The grain isn't overpowering and really works.

lovely image, very atmospheric. great contrast between heavy horizontal skies and precariously thin but defiantly upright boat masts. Maybe I would go a little easier on the grain in the sky, or maybe not, hard to say without comparing. And I like your signature toning :).

I find it very amusing that you used this term for the title. I used it a lot in my studies in granular physics :)

What I find most endearing are the repetition of lines in of all angles. Reflections, rails, masts, rain, and clouds. All emphasized by your tonal rendition. Baghead Ben
