 V.Happy with the top ten finish and comments.

The black bar indeed is the the white of the egg that has spilled out.

The egg was placed on top of a black marble chopping board, the black background was a large piece of fabric that was attached to two bars through a pull up bar whilst resting against the door frame. The lighting i used was a 120 watt worklight to the right that was diffused through tracing paper, i used a Nissin I622 flash to the left that was diffused through a dome. All of which was sat on top of a wall paper pasting table. There we have it a home made studio.

Isn't the "black bar" merely the pool of egg white?

I am extremely curious about what that black bar in the reflection is. It's extremely distracting, it keeps causing my eye to drift to it. The form of this is good, I like it in the right plane as opposed to the left, and the thin shell membrane is the perfect amount of "not perfect." It makes me identify with it as hair, and makes the yolk remind me of a princess. (yeah, I bet you didn't expect that one.) Exposure seems mostly good, it's a bit bright for me on the right side.
