This was a great challenge, I really enjoyed it. I am looking forward to all the entries. I am happy with this shot I had to do several retakes to get everything just right. This was a self portrait, me using the remote. I am pleased with how well I was able to get the focus on this one, usually I have trouble with self portraits. There was quite a debate in the PM threads over which shot to enter, I almost entered this one [thumb]942615[/thumb] I liked it better but didn't think it was Westony enough.

Score prediction: I always have trouble scoring these kind of challenges. The others I showed it to seemed to like it so I am going to go with a 6.5

Now, I'm depressed. I only got 5 ones! Obviously, my image bored even the trolls! I like what Louis wrote about your image...and I can't really write any better than that...so I'm just going to echo the sentiment of his comment. Beautifully done, Jenn!

I am humbled, 11 ones for a shot that is both technically strong and nails the challenge is quite a feat.; and I was so proud of my measly 7 ones for my entry this week.

lovely light and pose - and pretty model as well
i think it would look even more authentic with a more standard crop (8x10)

Very nice. Great detail with perfect focus. I love the dark/light contrast. I especially like the subtly lighter background versus the even darker sweater. The sense of emotion is great. Great shot!

Excellent Weston Like Portrait! Good pose representative of his headshots, very contemplative. Use of digital medium really lacks the depth that Weston's film portraits show but here it may also be the distance of the background to the model, as Weston shot many outdoor portraits. (My last comment is not to say your photo is lacking in any way, just different because of the medium chosen.)

Overall an excellent example!

Very strong entry. Beautiful image with wonderful lighting, lines, and crop. Should be top ten and I just started voting.

Wonderful light. I like the waves in your hair, adding a bit of texture and contrasting interest. Love your jawline.

That's a lovely portrait. I think this is well representative of Weston's style -- the close frame/crop, the high contrast, the natural-looking light, and, if I may say so, the beautiful curls that look like 1930s-esque finger waves. Very wonderfully done, thanks.
