Personally I would have preferred to see the waves and clouds in focus, but I suppose it could take away from the subject.

Love the contrast and texture and details in the drift wood, but feel like the background steals my eye away from it - very distracting. Perhaps a tighter crop, or maybe a vignette to draw the eye to the driftwood and keep it there?

Hmm, I struggle to confidently tie this to Weston's style. I think the biggest problem is that everything is not in focus. I think he would have removed the seaweed from this piece of driftwood as well to highlight its form and lines.
