candid shot at the Windansea Beach in La Jolla.

[Jun. 5th, 2011 04:55:39 PM]

I was trying to blur the splashes a little bit by a longish exposure (but still handheld). This one came out very unusual, like the splash comes from nowhere. Evidently, it happened because I (accidentally) tripped the shutter just after the splash reached the highest point. What is still surprising to me is how straight the streaks of water are, as if they are rays of light... there is not trace of curving down due to gravity. I guess the speed of the water was just too high.

Amazing photo! It's like there's a shark sneaking up from the boy's back (see fin), but there's a miracle coming from the boy's front... to save him. Well done. I like it all. (not voting)

Very unique. Long s/s? Remainder of spray from a big wave? Great image.
