The challenge theme intrigued me and scared me. I feel like I have never been good at recognizing symbolism in art or movies. In studying the Justin Reyes still life link in the forum, I found the pictures fascinating, but I am not sure I grasped the symbolism. They mostly seemed like groups of interesting items.

So, I scoured the house trying to find interesting objects to include in my image. I remembered the braid of my wife's hair was somewhere in a box in the basement. My wife has beautiful red hair that I think she was proud of as a child. One summer her mom cut her long hair short and saved the braid. I think my wife was traumatized. In the same box I found some pictures of her, and in the Brownie picture she is wearing the same ties as in the braid. I included the peaches to represent youth -- either that or I like the color of the peaches with the tones in the picture and braid and the blue of the vase with my wife's eyes. I like this picture, but I'm anxious to see what reaction it gets in the voting.

Nice but a little rigidly arranged for the charming content.

Ought to ribbon, nice color tie in with the tie in the photograph, the baubles on the pony tail and the peaches. The blue of the bowl sets that triumvirate off well. My only issue is with the reliance on photographs to make the allegory obvious, since an image is not a symbol but a representation. The shorn pigtail, and the peaches are a lovely evocation of fleeting youth, but the images are the easy path to clear communication, skipping subtle symbols, and something of a cheat.

I am confused by what all the items in the image have to do with each other; more especifically, the fruit.

There are a lot of images in this challenge that make use of other photographs in them. I think this is one of the ones that would have worked just as well (maybe even better) without the photograph(s) because the other objects are so strong.

Wow, I was going to do something with my hair as well, which i kept from childhood, but changed my mind, this is better than what I did.
