Challenge: From A Distance (Advanced Editing VII)
Camera: Canon EOS-5D
Location: London, UK
Date: Jul 9, 2011
Aperture: 10 (telescope)
ISO: 50
Shutter: 4"
Galleries: Astrophotography
Date Uploaded: Jul 10, 2011

Taken by coupling a Canon 5D to a Celestron 9.25" SCT. I used an ND equivalent filter to stop down the light for a longer exposure to reduce the impact of camera shake when depressing the shutter. Less-than-great conditions with the moon being this low in the sky...

I like how the light/dark line provides such nice contrast and details in the craters. I also like the square crop.

This is definitely a distant object. I think the concept of the challenge was a little lost due to the fact you brought the distant image close to the viewer with a telephoto lens. But certainly it is not DNMC. A great moon!

Definitely a far away subject, and nice details in the craters. But this photo has been taken a million times, so for me, it's lacking the interest that I'm looking for.

While it's definitely very far, it does not appear to be. You have reached relatively close to it yet those craters are so far away. the question is if it serves the purpose of the challenge. Perhaps not.
