 My husband and a very generous friend cleaned a bunch of really grimy, filthy stuff out of the basement and the barn on what happened to be a hotter-than-blazes day (something that we've been seeing a lot more of here lately). One of the things they took out of the basement was the old oil tank for our winter heating oil. They were both completely covered head to toe in grime after that adventure. Our friend's reward was a long, cool shower and barbecue dinner, but not before I had an opportunity to take some pictures of them while they took a beer break. This is a photo of our friend, who I realized was holding the bottle very high up on the neck, giving me an opportunity to get his hand in the shot as well as part of his stubbly face.

For me this is a really great macro/closeup. The detail is excellent and the B&W works great here. I thought it deserved a top 5 finish. I can't help but think that some people geve it low scores because of the Budwiser label on the bottle and didn't judge it on the merit of the photograph.

Interesting take on the challenge; different, keeps me looking at the various elements and thinking about the story behind it. I can relate some days. Very up close and personal. The only critique would be to turn the bottle slightly so that the Bud label shows up fully, then you'd have a nice ad pic :)

I really like the grittyness and overall clarity. I also think this is an image where the B&W really adds to the image. This is quality that budweiser would use for an ad!

The contrast in textures is really cool. The greasy fingernails, the stubble and the smoothness of the bottle make this really interesting. I love the crop. 8
