 I utilized the techniques in DrAchoo's Insect Photography Tutorial.

I placed him on a leaf and used green place-mats as a backdrop. I used two Square Perfect soft-boxes for light.

It was a very spontaneous shot. I was picking up sticks in my backyard when I saw him hopping around.

He is a katydid/bush-cricket (whichever you prefer).

I cannot believe there are such magnificent things; great color and composition. love the outstretched... arm? whatever they are, great shot- now step on that damn bug!
